Eben Trio is one of the most distinctive chamber ensembles of the younger generation. It is named after one of the most important Czech composers of the second half of the 20th century, Petr Eben. In 2008–2009 the trio studied at the Hochschule Luzern--Musik (Switzerland) under the members of the Guarneri Trio Prague. The trio has also taken part in a number of prestigious courses with luminaries such as Menahem Pressler (Beaux Arts Trio), Arnold Steinhardt (Guarneri String Quartet), Valentin Erben (Alban Berg Quartet) and Niklas Schmidt (Trio Fontenay), with whom the trio is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. The ensemble performs on Czech and foreign stages and at prestigious world music festivals such as Prague Spring, Moravian Autumn, the Emmy Destinn Music Festival, Allegro Vivo (Austria), Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany), Sarajevo Winter (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Flaneries Musicales de Reims (France), Pablo Casals Festival (Spain), Kennedy Center of Performing Arts Washington (USA), etc. The trio has won a number of awards at international competitions (Maria Yudina International Music Competition in Saint Petersburg, Rovere d´Oro in San Bartolomeo, Italy, Charles Hennen Concours in Heerlen, Netherlands, Bohuslav Martinů Competition in Prague). Most recently the trio received the “Masefi eld Prize” in Hamburg and in October 2012 won the 38th international chamber ensemble competition “Concours de musique du Lyceum Club International de Suisse” in Lausanne, Switzerland. This success garnered the trio an invitation to the prestigious “Verbier Festival Academy” in summer 2013. Eben Trio has released two recordings with ArcoDiva. Both albums were very well received by critics in the Czech Republic and abroad. The CD released for Petr Eben’s posthumous 80th birthday with the Petr Eben, Petr Fiala and Sylvie Bodorová piano trios was named “Recording of the Month” (MusicWeb International London – June 2009) and “IRR Outstanding” at the International Record Review. The Eben Trio has become a laureate of the Prize of the Chamber Music Society under the aegis of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra for the year 2012.
