Recorded at the Concert Hall of the Prague Conservatoire, February 25-26, 2012.
The prompting of Astor Piazzolla's teacher Nadia Boulanger, "Astor, you must find your music", gave rise to a new genre, Tango Nuevo - a colourful musical world abounding in emotion. Tango Nuevo is music with an identity of its own, transcending all genres. In a century that witnessed an ever deepening gulf between the composer and the audience, Piazzolla succeeded in achieving something incredible: building a bridge, creating a new, almost exclusively chamber, genre with peerless sonority and phrasing, music that is loved and awakens the listener's emotions. Tango Nuevo has also enchanted the accordionist Ladislav Horák and the cellist Petr Nouzovský, two superlative Czech musicians of international renown, who have spread the word throughout Europe at their concerts. The CD also features two pieces by José Bragato, a cellist who performed in various ensembles formed by Piazolla and arranged numerous Piazolla works, and Richard Galliano, a pupil of Piazzolla's and one of the world's finest accordionists.
Tango Nuevo - enchanting music that defies genre pigeon-holes!
